How it works

  1. Pick your vehicle Work down from make to model to generation to the exact variant. Engine codes differ far more than model names do, so the variant is what decides the numbers.
  2. Read the gain The calculator shows stock and tuned power and torque side by side, with the difference called out separately.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure is drawn from our own vehicle catalogue, built from the calibrations we actually ship rather than from generic percentages. That is why the numbers differ between two variants that share a model name: a 2.0 TDI in one generation runs a different control unit, a different turbo and a different factory torque limiter from the next.

The gain shown is always the difference between the stock output and the tuned output for that specific variant. Nothing is rounded up for effect, and the stock figure is the manufacturer's own.

What affects the result on your car

A calibration works with the hardware in front of it. Two cars of the same variant can land on slightly different numbers depending on condition, fuel quality and what has been fitted, which is why these are typical results rather than a guarantee.

  • Engine and turbo condition, and how recently it was serviced
  • Fuel grade — higher octane gives a petrol calibration more room
  • Supporting hardware such as intake, exhaust or intercooler
  • Ambient temperature and altitude on the day
  • Gearbox type, particularly on torque-limited automatics

Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3

Stage 1 assumes an otherwise standard car and is the figure shown by default — it is the safe, everyday option and the one most customers buy. Stage 2 expects supporting hardware, typically an exhaust or intake upgrade. Stage 3 is matched to a specific modified build and is quoted per car rather than from a table.

The figures come from the calibrations we ship and the manufacturer's stock output. Individual results vary with condition, fuel and hardware.

Not necessarily. On diesels in particular a Stage 1 calibration often improves consumption at a steady cruise, because the same road speed needs less throttle.
